Ruth Gould, 86, of Liscomb, IA passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011, at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 13, 2011, at the Liscomb Church of Christ, in Liscomb. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, June 12, 2011, at Pursel Davis Funeral and Cremation Care, in Marshalltown. Interment will be at Liscomb Cemetery. Ruth was born November 14, 1924 to Hans and Mary (Raisch) Guldager, in Cedar Falls, IA. Her family moved from Cedar Falls to Saskatchewan, Canada, where she lived for thirteen years before returning to Iowa. Ruth graduated from State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She came to Liscomb to teach. She was united in marriage to Jay Neil Gould on June 15, 1947, in Ackley, IA. She continued to teach school in Liscomb, BCL, and BCLUW, for a total of 35 years. During this time she received her B.S. degree from Drake University, in 1964. Ruth was a member of the Liscomb Church of Christ, where she was active in many activities in her earlier years. She was a member of the Red Hat Dollies, Charter member of the Liscomb Hobby Club, a fifty year member of the Rebekah Lodge, Craft Class of the Y, retired teachers weekly get together club, a fifteen year member of the Community Y in Marshalltown, and the Iowa School Retired Personnel . Ruth enjoyed knitting, sewing, and baking. She was very proud to have a pen pal from New Zealand for over fifty years.

Ruth will be greatly missed by her husband of 63 years; Neil, two children; Dennie Jay Gould of Liscomb, Denise Marie Gould Stuart of Kent, WA, five grandchildren; Jared (Brittney) Gould, Josh Gould, Shelby (Abdel) Abdilah, Tyler (Shyla) Stuart, Kelsey Stuart, two great grandchildren; Wyatt Jay Gould and Rahman Abdilah, a brother, Carl (Janice) Guldager of Ackley, IA, and many nieces and nephews. She will join in eternal life her parents, and a sister, Lenna Oelmann
