Condolence: Dear Jo, Stephanie, Mark and Drew: When I was growing up in the 30's and 40's your Dad and Uncle George were like older brothers to me as I was 10 years younger than Joel and 12 years younger than Uncle George. Since I was the only nephew for several years I got a lot of attention from the two of them. They took me to the western movies, to the "Y" and Sunday School. Uncle Joel used to stop by Chariton High School where I was teaching in the '60's and visit when he was on the road. Fishing and hunting were two ventures we enjoyed together. Joel and Frances invited me to spend weekends with them when I was in college in Ames and they were living in Des Moines. I treasure the time I got to spend with Uncle Joel and Aunt Frances. He was a wonderful guy with a big smile and a great sense of humor. A good story made his day along with a successful golfing outing. I can visualize him now as he was after WWII driving up to my folks home in Agency in his used, black '38 Buick Coupe with my future Aunt Frances with him so he could introduce her to us. They made a truly wonderful couple. I will miss Uncle Joel and wish I could be with you today. Love to you all. God Bless Uncle Joel. Gary and Nancy McVey

Condolence: Meals on Wheels Board and drivers extend our deepest condolences at
the loss of Joel. We enjoyed being of service to him and also his wife, Frances,
when she was alive. We are glad we got to know Joel and extend our
deepest sympathy to all his family.
