Obituary for Anna M. Evers

Anna Mae Evers, 83, of Marshalltown, IA passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be at Riverside cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church in Marshalltown in lieu of flowers. Anna was born October 26, 1927 to Paul E. and Effie (Wilkinson) Williams in Superior, WI. She attended high school Gordon High School and received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Central College in Pella, IA, in 1949. She was a member of the Homecoming Court at Central College her senior year. At Central, she met the love of her life, Clyde Evers, in physics class in 1946. They were united in marriage August 16, 1949. To this union they had four daughters: Bonna, Diana, Emilie, and Faith.

Anna was a homemaker and active in her church. She volunteered with several community organizations including the Marshall County Food Box, worked with Pleasant Hill School children, and taught Bible school.

Anna is survived by her loving husband, Clyde, daughters, Bonna (Scott) Gonzales of Guthrie Center, IA, Diana Evers of Iowa City, IA, Emilie (Warren) Olson of Marengo, IA, Faith Evers of Stewartville, MN, grandchildren, Sunny (Nathan) Eighmy of Oswego, IL, Andrew (Jenna) Steffensmeier of West Des Moines, IA, Abby Gonzales of Pella, IA, Phil Steffensmeier of Iowa City, IA, Sarah Steffensmeier of Brooklyn, NY, Lindsay Olson of Coralville, IA, and Tyler Olson of Marengo, IA; great grandchildren, Piper, Saylor, Zoey, and Fynn Eighmy, and Miles and Ella Steffensmeier; and sister Mary Sue (Robert) Aaberg of Craig, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
