Joan McCormack Ekberg
Age 82, of Edina MN entered into eternal life July 27, 2010. Funeral Services will be held 4:00 P.M. Saturday July 31, 2010 at Pursel-Davis Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery. Joan was born in Marshalltown to John and Dorothy (Balch) McCormack. She was a graduate of Stephens College, Columbia MO and Iowa State University majoring in home economics and was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Following graduation she moved to Minneapolis MN where she was employed by Dayton’s Department Store as a bridal consultant. After marring, Joan created beautiful homes when she lived in Schenectady NY, Minneapolis MN, Bad Homburg, Germany and Edina MN. She was a member of the Womens' Club of Minneapolis where she held various leadership offices, American Association of University Women, Interlachen Country Club, DAR, General Society of Mayflower Descendents, the Historical Society of Beverly, MA, Colonial Church of Edina and P.E.O. She became a certified interior designer later in life.
Joan will be greatly missed by her daughters; Karen E. Carhart, Elizabeth E. (John) Coulter, grandchildren; Amory, Rachael, and Hannah, sister; Sally (Bob) Becker, nephews; Dan and John. She joins in eternal life her parents John and Dorothy McCormack
