Alex Brothers, 24, of Marshalltown, IA died Saturday, October 20, 2012, at his home. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, October 26, 2012, at the Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home with Pastor John Glasscock of the Iowa River Church of the Brethren officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, October 25, 2012, at Estel-Perrin-Avey. A memorial fund is being established in his name.

Alex was born October 13. 1988 in Marshalltown the son of Jeffrey and Wynne Laverty Brothers. He graduated from East Marshall High School in 2007 and received his CAD and Design degree from Marshalltown Community College in 2011. After graduating from MCC he was employed at Rowan Industries in Dysart, Iowa as a mechanical designer/machinist. Alex was later employed at QCI of Des Moines as a software/hardware technician. Alex loved music playing many instruments, listening to Opera, Blue Grass and all kinds of music. He also was an avid video game player.

Alex is survived by his parents, Jeff and Wynne, a sister Marissa at home, his grandparents, Jerry and Mary Lou Brothers of Marshalltown and Larry Laverty, Sr. of
Urbandale. Also surviving are his aunts, Alana (Graham) Latchaw of Davenport, Megan (Bill) Brubaker of Marysville, Wa and Judy (Bill) Cormier of Valencia, CA, and a uncle, Larry (Kim) Laverty Jr. of Marshalltown. Numerous cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Kay Laverty.
