Earl Ralph Leslie Fredrickson, 94, of Marshalltown, IA passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at the Iowa River Hospice House. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 20, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. Inurnment will be at Swede Home, NE. Pursel Davis Funeral and Cremation has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Earl was born June 30, 1918 to Axel E. and Amelia (Anderson) Fredrickson in Osceola, NE. He was raised on a farm in Polk County, Nebraska, near Stromsburg, and graduated from High Prairie High School. He went on to attend the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Earl served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy. He was united in marriage to Ardath Joan Francis on July 27, 1941 at the Swede Home Parsonage in Polk County, NE. She died Jan 11, 2000. Earl was a manufacturer's representative for Utah Tailoring Mills in Ogden, Utah for over 50 years, selling custom tailored clothing for women in California and several Midwestern states. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Marshalltown Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. Earl was active in his church and community, helping to raise monies for projects and events such as sending the MHS Band to the Rose Bowl. He enjoyed reading, landscaping and gardening, and being a friend to many.

Earl will be missed by a daughter, Roxanne (Roger) Ezell of Orono, MN, a son, David E. Fredrickson (Jana Martin) of Hudson, WI, three grandchildren, David Ezell, Mark (Devin) Fredrickson, Anne Fredrickson, two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
