Lynda Taylor, 61, of Marshalltown, IA passed away Tuesday, September11, 2012, at Grandview Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Marshalltown. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Pursel Davis Funeral and Cremation Care, in Marshalltown. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery, in

Lynda was born January 9, 1951 to Karroll D. and Gayle E. (Baker) Diggins in Marshalltown, IA. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1969. She went on to further her education at UNI in Cedar Falls, IA. Lynda returned to college later in life to obtain her LPN degree from Marshalltown Community College. Lynda was the first
project director of DVA from 1983 – 1992, first president of the Iowa Coalition against Domestic Violence, and served on first board of directors of crime victims assistance. She was a 29 year member of AA. Lynda was a member of the First United Methodist church in Marshalltown. She had a ministry working with the women at the Halfway
House, called “For Heaven’s Sake”. Lynda had a great sense of humor, many friends, and loved opera, pizza, and spending time with family. She also loved to travel and enjoyed different cultures.

Lynda will be missed by her daughter, Abby Torrez, and son-in-law Angel Torrez of Marshalltown, three grandchildren, Elena, Liliana, and Brandon Torrez, two sisters, Joyce Findorff, Lynnette Miller, and two brothers, Don and Jon Diggins. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Patricia Vanore and Janyce Brown.
