Duane Zobel
Duane “Zip” Zobel, 79, of Marshalltown, entered into eternal life, July 27th, 2012, at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown. A graveside service will be held 3:30 p.m., Monday, July 30, 2012 at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Pursel Davis Funeral and Cremation Care. Memorial donations in honor of Duane may be directed to Iowa River Hospice. Duane was born September 1, 1932, the son of Homer W. and Grace M. (Scovel) Zobel in a farm home in Delaware County. He was educated in Manchester, Mount Auburn and graduated from Tama High School. Duane served his country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. On September 1, 1957, he was united in marriage to Sharon Funke at Bethany Evangelical United Brethren Church in Marshalltown.
Duane was employed at Tama Paper Mill for 16 years and Fisher Governor for 27 years, retiring in 1994. Duane was an avid outdoors man with a love for hunting and horses.
Duane will be dearly missed by his wife of 54 years, Sharon, children; Bradley Zobel and Jeffrey (Sandra) Zobel, both of Ft. Pierce, FL, Diane (Nick) McFarland of Marshalltown, 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, brothers; Homer Lavern (Charlotte) Zobel of Kimberling City, MO, and Gary Zobel of Marshalltown.
In eternal life Duane joins his parents.
