Ann M. Mayer, age 83, of Marshalltown, entered into eternal life, Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Grandview Heights while under the care of Iowa River Hospice. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Pursel Davis Funeral and Cremation Care. Visitation will begin one hour prior. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Ann was born February 15, 1929, in Erith Kent, England, the only child of Harold and Edith (Simpson) Landers. She received her education at St. Joseph's Convent, and upon graduation was employed by Barkers and Sons in London. She came to the United States in the early 1950's and was employed by Bos Truck Lines. In August 1956 she was granted her citizenship. In 1971 she was employed by MMSC until she retired in 1994.
Ann is survived by her children: Cheryl (Bob) Nay, Susan (Dale) McGrew, and Tony Varnum, two granddaughters: LuWana and Jennifer, four grandsons: Christopher, Rick, Andrew, and Cody, two great-grandchildren: Kaycee and Jasmin, two step grand-children: Jennifer and Elizabeth, and two step great-grandchildren: Kobi and Quincy.
