Betty J Edler, 85, of Marshalltown, IA passed away Saturday, December 3, 2011, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital, in Grundy Center, IA. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at Pursel Davis Funeral and Cremation Care in Marshalltown. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Betty was born March 16, 1926 to Roy R. and Stella E. (Wilson) Hickman in rural Garwin, IA. She attended LaMoille schools, graduating in 1943. Betty was united in marriage to Eldon N. Edler on November 25, 1948. He died December 8, 1996. She was employed with the Marshalltown Telephone Company and Marshalltown High School and a lifelong farm wife. Betty was a wonderful cook and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Betty will be missed by her daughter, Ann (Dale) Eide of Chariton, IA, a son, Douglas (Laura) Edler of Gladbrook, IA, ten grandchildren, Wyatt Eide, Abigail (Jason) Thompson, Shane Eide, Daleea (Chris) Gahring, Dawn Edler, Dustin (Gina) Edler, Courtney Sweeney, Andrew Townsend, Margaret Edler, John Edler, five great
grandchildren, Caiden Gahring, Tyler and Katelyn Thompson, Bella and Brianna Edler, two sisters, Barb (Ernie) Gerke of DesMoines, and Gretchen Shehorn of Lincoln, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Eldon, and a brother, Ted Hickman.
