Robert C.  Elliott
Robert C. Elliott, 81, of State Center, IA, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at home surrounded by his loving family. Celebration of Life Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 15, 2011, at Pursel-Davis Funeral and Cremation Care, Marshalltown, IA. Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2011 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Robert's honor may be made to the Tama-Poweshiek Career Development Center at Iowa Valley Community College. Robert was born September 17, 1930 to Carl and Ada (Gorsuch) Elliott in Iowa City, IA. He graduated from Liscomb High School in 1948. Robert served his country in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. He was united in marriage to Barbara Rae Walters on September 28, 1951. Robert worked as a farm hand and retired as a supervisor for Fisher Controls after 32 years of service.

He enjoyed playing baseball, post-high school, pitching for the Marshalltown Ansons. Robert was a long time member of the Bethany United Methodist Church where he served as a lay speaker, was a youth leader with his wife and a Sunday School Superintendent and teacher. He and Barbara were active in the Texas Connection Music Ministry and the Snow Birds Supper Club. Robert served as a volunteer fireman for the Albion Fire Department for many years .

Robert will be missed by his wife of 60 years, Barbara, his children: Starla Elliott Elsberry of Marshalltown, IA; Deb Elliott of St. Paul, MN and Ed (Sarah) Elliott of Maquoketa,IA; grandchildren: Leah (Brian) Swaim and Christian Elsberry, a brother, Chuck (Margie) Elliott and sisters-in-law: Darlene Lunsford, Betty Walters, Lois Williams and Edith Elliott, as well as many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Robert’s family requests that red be worn at the service in honor of his favorite color.
